Inversion is usually a normal and very common variation in nipple shape, and usually not a cause for concern beyond aesthetics. When the inversion is caused by fibrosis, then the definitive solution is surgical intervention, which is done with local anesthesia in an outpatient scenario. The incision is made at the base of the nipple, leaving behind an unnoticeable scar.
